Qld Tour Day 3 - Brissie & Lismore
Wednesday 29th August 2003
(By Chris Gardiner - guitar/vocals 4 Scrum)
A cloudy head greeted me as I woke at around 7am for day three. Gaz and I were the last ones to leave the open air bar the night before at around 2am and it was only a lack of funds that coaxed us out of there. good thing we did, we had a hell of a day ahead of us. After packing our shit up we headed down to the hotel's cafe for a bout of bacon & eggs, (or cereal and coffee if your Picco) and got asked by the staff to keep our swearing down! The nerve!
Off to find an internet cafe to upload last nights pics and free up our two memory cards was next, and then off to get the Taragos to head off to Lismore. We had some time to kill before we could get the cars, so we thought it might be a good idea to take some photos at a nearby waterfall. The results of our defilement are below. Finally, back on the road, we rolled into Lismore around 1pm.
We met up with our local contact Wayne when we arrived and after loading in our gear to the venue and checking in to our "hotel rooms" we went downstairs to the pub and started drinking. From that point on, we didn't stop.
We made our way over to the bar across the road where we'd seen a sign earlier on that read: "THURSDAY NIGHT, LINGERIE WAITRESSES!". Upon further inquiry we found out that the girls weren't on till 5 so we sat out in the beer garden, chilled out and sunk more piss.
As 5pm loomed, we shifted inside for some pool and jukebox and besides a few brief visits to the venue to check up on gear, we basically didn't leave until we were due on stage.
During what was a messy, messy evening the girls were kind enough to pose with all of us for a snap for the photo album.
What followed was one of the worst and best gigs we've ever played. But the truth is, I'm not the right man to review it. I really cant remember it that well! That being the case, Russell's reviewed it for us.
