Friday 16th May
Green Square Hotel - Zetland
Scrum - Hollow Cell - Switchblade
Account by Chris Gardiner (guitars/vocals)
This was probably the most fun I'd had at a serious gig. The load in was relaxed, the setup was fun and the bands we played with were all great lads and lasses. The night began for me with any musicians' classic diet: beer, wedges, and chili mayonnaise. Yum. People started flowing in relatively early, which was good, cause there were more people there to see Switchblade.
None of us had seen Switchblade live before, but we'd heard their demo cd, which was pretty cool. We weren't disappointed. These lads have a bright future if they stick with it. They have the right attitude to the promotion and delivery of live metal, and give a strong, tight and entertaining performance. Check out their site and download their demos at switchblade1.go.to
I unfortunately didn't get much of a chance to see Hollow Cell. As they were on before us, I was setting up all our gear while they were on.
As far as our show was concerned, people assured me that we played well, but the main thing for me was that we had a blast. The cool thing about headlining a show is that by the time you get on, everyone's had a few (or a few too many) drinks, so they loosen up a little. Allot of the guys and girls that showed up came to the front and had a mosh with us. It was just a good gig overall.
Churchills, Beer, Friends, pool and Jukebox followed. A great end to the evening :)
